Necrons VS Tyranids 1500pts narrative Battle Report

It was dawn when the Necron Lord arrived to the aid of his superior. The Tyranids were posing a threat to his Tomb, soulless bug-like creatures destroying everything in their wake. Nightbringer will devour them! They must be punished!

The sounds of an earlier engagement left no visible traces on the snowy field of battle. The Lord arrived with reinforcements, Destroyers speeding past him, with their heavy-armed counterparts right behind them. He knew the Monolith nearby was awakening. Soon it will rise and annihilate the unworthy intruders. He saw two squads of Warriors taking defensive positions, one on the left in the ruined remains of a building that belonged to human colonists. He smiled to himself... the Nightbringer reaped countless souls that day. Second unit was positioned in craters in front of him.

The Nightbringer, in his physical form, charged headling into the swarm, his scythe held high. The swarm was immense, smaller Tyranids massed all over the field. The Lord noticed a couple of larger creatures constantly spawning more and more of the smaller ones. He saw Nightbringer getting wounded by some large spear-shaped projectiles fired by the ones known as Hive Guard, who were right in front of the Star God's form. Tall Tyranid Warriors, wielding pairs of sword-shaped weapons were closing in on him. The Destroyers opened fire at the spawning-creature on the right, behind some old tankers and power plants still standing, heavily damaging the creature, blasting it's reproduction organs.

He joined the Warriors in front of him, outnumbered by Tyranids charging at them, bracing for impact. He saw the other squad of Warriors firing into a small forest in front of them at a mass of smaller creatures that appeared out of it, their Gauss weapons flaying some of the creatures bare in mere moments. The great rumbling turned his attention to the area near the Nightbringer. The Monolith has awoken and was rising to the surface, it's great pyramid-like shape towering over everything with the exception of Nightbringer himself. Creatures that were close to the Monolith backed away, not wanting to get near the thing. The moment it has fully risen, the crystal on top of it started glowing and moments later fired a whip-like beam on the Tyranid Warriors, disintegrating some of them. Behind the Hive Guard emerged worm-like creatures know as Zoanthorpes, floating towards the Monolith. They projected a beam of psychic energy from their large craniums, firing them at the towering structure. The beams harmlessly bounced of the living metal of the Monolith.

A loud screech made the Lord turn his gaze towards the Nightbringer, seeing him as he grabbed the largest of the Tyranid Warriors, crushing him in his hand, and flinging him back to land near the Lord. Everything that remained of the Alpha Warrior was a crushed blob of flesh and chitin. Several more Tyranid Warriors fell to the fury of the Nightbringer, yet some of them miraculously survived his onslaught. A swarm of the smaller creatures appeared behind their Warriors, charging the Star God, venom dripping from their razor-sharp claws. As they came close to the Nightbringer, he summoned a powerful tempest, engulfing himself in a cloud of snow and sending the weak creatures flying away from him. The Tyranid Warriors remained and continued their attack on the Nightbringer, their boneswords piercing his necrodermis, as more of them fell. With a blinding flash, the Nightbringer's physical form exploded, the blast harming the nearby Tyranids. A deep echoing laughter could be heard in the air as the snow settled.

There was a loud banging sound as the Monolith was charged by an extremely large Tyranid, a living battering ram known as Carnifex. But even his unworldly strength could not penetrate the living metal.

The Heavy Destroyers glided behind the Lord, firing again at the mother-creature, inflicting more damage. Their lighter-armed counterparts opened fire on the swarm of small Tyranids in front of the Lord's unit, their Gauss Canons blasting their numbers, but that did not slow them down as they charged at the Warriors in front of them. The little creature's momentum was stopped by the difficult ground of the craters, and the Necron Warriors seized the opportunity to strike at them. Blades on their rifles cutting some of the creatures in half, and they retaliated, felling some of the Necrons, yet most were unharmed, Tyranid claws harmlessly bouncing off their necrodermis.

The Lord moved in to join the fray, his Staff of Light effortlessly slashing through the Tyranids. More Necrons fell, overwhelmed by the sheer mass of the foe, unable to get back up. Still, the fight was going better for the Necrons, but then came another swarm, like the one they were fighting, charging into their left flank, and from the right came the wounded brood-mother, charging in to protect it's children. The Necrons held their ground, each of the fallen extorting a bloody price.

Soon, the Necron Lord was standing alone, surrounded by a dozen of the small creatures and their mother. There was a loud explosion and a flash of green energy, but the Lord did not care now. He was attacked on all sides, and fought like possesed by the Nightbringer himself. The carnage he inflicted took the Tyranids by surprise, but unable to fall back, their Hive Mind not allowing it, they hesitated for a moment, and that was all the Lord needed to plunge the Staff into the mother's head, slaying it instantly. It's death sent a nova of psychic energy, wich ripped throgh those connected to it, killing some of it's children. The few small Tyranids that remained he easly cut down, and surveyed the field.

The Monolith was wrecked and slowly phasing out. The Destroyers glided to his location, firing behind them as they came near. The other unit of Necron Warriors was surrounded by dozens of dead Tyranids, as more of them came.

But then it was all over, the Tyranid leader slain, only one brood-mother remained, their numbers reduced to ineffectiveness, they retreated. Triumphant, the Necrons slowly started to phase out, teleporting back into their Tomb for repair. As the Lord fell back into his slumber, he was certain that the Nightbringer will reward him for this victory.
